Chicago Cubs Lineup: Coghlan is Back, Soler is Not

happy cubs old logo

Tonight marks the beginning of the end for the Chicago Cubs 2016 regular season.

The first game of their final three-game series starts tonight at 6:05. Here’s the lineup they’re going with.

Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Cincinnati Reds (Josh Smith):

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  5. Jason Heyward, RF
  6. Addison Russell, SS
  7. Chris Coghlan, LF
  8. Miguel Montero, C
  9. Jake Buchanan, P

As you can tell, Chris Coghlan is back in the lineup after spraining his ankle on Wednesday, which is very good news for his chances at making the postseason roster. Given how he’s played lately (particularly at the plate), he’s starting to feel like a lock for October (#LOcktober).

Unfortunately, Jorge Soler has not yet returned to the lineup, even though he has rejoined his team in Cincinnati. With any luck, he’ll start tomorrow or Sunday and look healthy and ready for the playoffs. Both outfielders’ bats can be huge in the postseason, so here’s to getting healthy.

We’ll have a full Pre-gamin’ for you close to game time.

Could Red-Hot Blue Jays Catcher Danny Jansen Be a Cubs Trade Target?

Slight Rotation Shuffle, Smyly Coming, Big Night in Iowa, and Other Cubs Bullets

Something the Cubs Have Quietly Been Able to Pull Off with Respect to Shota Imanaga
