The Cubs enjoyed a big walk-off win over the Rockies last night, but they’ve got a tougher matchup with German Marquez on the mound tonight. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for Game 2 at Wrigley Field.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Rafael Ortega, CF
2. Frank Schwindel, 1B
3. Ian Happ, LF
4. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
5. David Bote, 2B
6. Jason Heyward, RF
7. Austin Romine, C
8. Sergio Alcantara, SS
9. Justin Steele, P
Who’s playing right field? Who’s playing shortstop? Who’s behind the plate? Basically, those are the only three questions we answer in these lineup posts lately. And today, the answers are Jason Heyward, Sergio Alcantara, and Austin Romine.
Certainly other positions can be impacted by each of those decisions, but for the most part, everyone is where you’d expect to find them against a righty. Speaking of that righty, Marquez has pretty normal lefty/righty splits this season (and for his career), with left-handers up at a .303 wOBA and righties down at .263.
Overall, Marquez has been pretty good this season, and as we’ll discuss in the Pre-Gamin’ post later on, the Rockies present a pretty tough matchup for Justin Steele.
