The Cubs cannot be beat.
They’ve now won 7 games in a row, including one last night against a Reds team with plenty to play for at the moment (they’re just 1.0 game out of the second Wild Card). Unfortunately for the Cubs, Wade Miley is on the mound tonight. And the last time he faced Chicago in mid-August, he shut them out over 7.0 innings with just 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.
With that said, the Cubs have actually been one of the best offenses in MLB against left-handed pitching after the trade deadline: 114 wRC+ (3rd in the NL, 8th overall). Maybe seeing Miley recently will help and this party can continue another day.
Go Cubs.
Note: Jason Heyward was scratched before the game. Patrick Wisdom took over for him in right and Alfonso Rivas enters to play left.
Jason Heyward was scratched from tonight's lineup due to right hamstring cramping.
