The NFL Scouting Combine is a week-long event in Indianapolis that features draft-eligible prospects showcasing their skills in front of NFL front office executives, scouts, coaches, and fans who tune in on NFL Network to take in the event. There will be physical tests (40-yard dash, shuttle run, bench press, various jumps), mental tests, and seemingly countless interviews. To say the Bears (and the league’s other 31 teams) have their work cut out for them during Combine week would be selling it short. This is a big deal. And Chicago has to get it right.
If the Bears are going to right the ship and get back to their winning ways, the process will begin with a successful round of scouting at the Combine that serves as a springboard to a building a strong draft board. Once Combine week concludes, the draft-related fun truly begins.
