Mac Jones met with the Chicago Bears down at the Senior Bowl. But then again, Jones met with everybody in Mobile during Senior Bowl week. The Bears also sent their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach to see Jones at Alabama’s Pro Day, where the QB prospect strut his stuff. But everyone sent somebody to Alabama’s Pro Day. After all, you’d be doing yourself a major disservice if you didn’t. It’s freaking Alabama Pro Day, for crying out loud. You could throw a dart on the practice field and hit a pro-ready draft-eligible prospect.
Ahhh, but here’s where it gets fun:
Alabama QB Mac Jones confirms to me that he has formally met with the #Bears.
He says that they met for an hour and “just talked ball”, and he hopes to continue to be in contact with them again in this pre-draft process.

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones has met with the Bears and called it "a great meeting."
"We just talked football for an hour straight. That's the best type of meeting for me. … Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to them more and see where that relationship goes."

Confirmation from Jacob Infante and Dan Wiederer that Alabama quarterback Mac Jones has had a formal meeting with the Chicago Bears is refreshing to see. And it’s nice to see that Jones hopes to get more opportunities to talk to the Bears down the line. Maybe that’s just prospect chatter from someone wanting to boost their stock. Or perhaps it’s genuine respect from one side to another. Heck, there is even a possibility that Jones likes what John DeFilippo, Bill Lazor, and whomever else he met with has to offer and is curious to know more. In any case, this meeting of the minds is a good thing.
The last time the Bears went through a process in which drafting a quarterback was a high priority, they failed to leave every stone unturned. Had they done so, we probably wouldn’t be writing this post right now.
So, no matter how it’s sliced, the Bears having a formal meeting with Jones is good news.
