Here’s a breakdown of each day’s activities to help you plan your 2024 Masters experience:
Monday & Tuesday, April 8-9: Practice Rounds: Catch a glimpse of the pros honing their skills during the practice rounds. This relaxed atmosphere offers the best opportunity for photos and autographs. Remember, cameras are only allowed on these days.
Wednesday, April 10: Par 3 Contest: Enjoy a lighter side of competition with the Par 3 Contest, played on a separate nine-hole course. Watch family members and even children caddy for the pros, all vying for the title (but beware the “curse” – no winner has ever gone on to claim the green jacket that same year!). Fun fact: golfing legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player often played together on this day.
2024 Masters Schedule:
Thursday, April 11: First Tournament Round: Witness the official start of the competition with an honorary tee-off, followed by the first round of tournament play. The full field tees off in threesomes, typically starting around 8:00 AM.
Friday, April 12: Second Tournament Round: Round two follows the same format as the first, with players aiming to make the crucial cut. Only the top 50 scores and those within 10 strokes of the leader will advance to the weekend rounds.
Saturday, April 13: Third Tournament Round: The excitement intensifies as the field thins out. Rounds three and four (played on Saturday and Sunday) feature later start times (around 10:00 AM) with pairings based on scores: those furthest behind tee off first, with leaders taking the course last.
Sunday, April 14: Fourth Tournament Round: The pressure mounts as the final round unfolds. Leaders typically tee off around 2:00-3:00 PM, with the anticipation building towards the coveted green jacket presentation ceremony, usually held between 6:00-7:00 PM.
