Reichel Lights the Lamp, Saturday Reading Material, and Other Blackhawks Bullets

With the Blackhawks on back-to-back off days before they host the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night at the United Center, there’s not much going on the Blackhawks front. So, let’s check in first on the Rockford IceHogs, who played the Iowa Wild on Friday night, and then I’ll point you in the direction of some reading material for your Saturday.

•   Jakub Pour, who signed an entry-level contract with the Blackhawks back in June out of the Czech League, put Rockford up 1-0 early with his first AHL goal in Des Moines on Friday night.

•   Before signing with the Blackhawks this summer, Pour, 22, spent four years in the Czech League. You can learn more about Pour in the Blackhawks press release from June.

•   The IceHogs would also get goals from Reese Johnson and Lukas Reichel on the evening but fall to the Iowa Wild by a score of 6-3 on Friday night. Here’s the full recap from the IceHogs:

•   Reichel’s goal in Friday night’s loss to the Wild was his second of the season. Reichel now has three points (2G, 1A) in three games with the IceHogs. With the way that Reichel is playing in Rockford and how things are going in Chicago, I would imagine that the Blackhawks prospect will make his way to Chicago sometime in the next month or two. Check out goal No. 2 for Lukas Reichel:

•   ICYMI: I wrote about Dylan Strome’s uncomfortable situation and why the Blackhawks need to either play him or trade him on Friday afternoon.

•   Some reading material for today; Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus tag-team the Blackhawks first five games of the season and more.

•   Hey, at least one United Center tenant is putting on a show! The Bulls cruised past the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night en route to a 2-0 start to the season. Lonzo Ball recorded a triple-double, and Zach LaVine notched his second 30-plus point performance on the early season for the Bulls.

•   The Bears head to Tampa Bay tomorrow to take on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Can they knock off Brady and the Bucs in back-to-back seasons?

•   As the Chicago Cubs front office continues to shift, SVP Jason McLeod is now departing the organization.

That’s it for today!
