Just like they did in San Francisco against the Giants, the Cubs were able to salvage the final game of a four-game set against the Mets to avoid the sweep. The Cubs followed that Giants series by taking 2 of 3 from the Padres and 3 of 3 from the Cardinals. I say we follow that same play book and start winning some more games.
The Dodgers and Brewers loom at the end of this month, so the time to win is now. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for Game 1 against the Marlins at Wrigley Field.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Joc Pederson, LF
2. Kris Bryant, RF
3. Javy Baez, SS
4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
5. Willson Contreras, C
6. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
7. Ian Happ, CF
8. Sergio Alcantara, 2B
9. Zach Davies, P
Today, David Ross is effectively going with Patrick Wisdom over Jason Heyward, which is what we’ve wanted to see for a while. That means Kris Bryant in right field, next to Ian Happ in center and Joc Pederson in left (and leading off).
With Sergio Alcantara at second, I’d say this is the best lineup the Cubs can field at the moment.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:05 CT).
