The San Francisco 49ers have landed one of the biggest names on the board in DT Javon Hargrave. According to Adam Schefter, Hargrave is heading to San Francisco on a four-year, $84 million deal with $40 million guaranteed.
The Eagles may have beaten the 49ers in the NFC Championship game two months ago, but the 49ers have landed a top-of-the-market free agent of the Eagles.
The 49ers’ interior defensive line gets a big boost with the addition of Hargrave. The 30-year-old DT logged 60 tackles, 11 sacks, and 16 quarterback hits last season. Hargrave’s presence on that prolific Eagles pass rush netted him a $20 million-plus contract even at 30.
The Eagles have lost TJ Edwards (Bears) and Hargrave (49ers) in the last hour from their defense.
Hargrave is the second notable defensive lineman to agree to a deal with a new team in the last hour. The Falcons recently landed DT David Onyemata as well.
