UPDATE: Whatever is happening – or not – in relation to Chicago Bears Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams and activities at Halas Hall today, one bit of firm news: Williams is out.
Williams issued a statement in conjunction with his resignation, citing the need to step back and take care of his health and his family:
More from Williams’ camp:
Whatever is going on with Williams and those around him, all you can do is hope there is a positive outcome in the end. It has been an extremely unusual few days.
Importantly, as it relates to the original report on Twitter, the Bears have denied that Halas Hall was raided by authorities:
Whatever informed the original report, according to the Bears, it was not accurate. More updates coming as necessary, as this remains a bit of a mysterious and fluid situation.

Earlier today, Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus indicated that he had no update on the status of Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams, who was away from the team this weekend when they traveled to Tampa. Notably, Eberflus wouldn’t even confirm that Williams was still employed by the Bears. So you already knew something serious was going on, even if the particulars weren’t available.
Vague reports are leaking out today, however, about just how serious this situation might be. It was circulating widely enough, and the situation is unusual enough, that we wanted to note it here and update as necessary.
(SEE UPDATE: The Bears and Williams’ attorney have denied a report about a raid at Halas Hall, and until and unless there is some additional reporting on the matter, I don’t want it spreading further if it’s not accurate.)
More coming soon, I expect, as more information becomes available.
