Now, usually, the Indianapolis Colts drafting an EDGE at 15th overall wouldn’t really be a big story, but this one is the exception to the rule. Laiatu Latu at 15th was the first defensive player off the board. This is the longest it’s taken for a defensive player to go off the board since the NFL merger in 1970! Prior to Latu going to the Colts at 15th, the longest it had been was in 2021 when the Panthers took cornerback Jaycee Horn at 8th overall.
Most knew this first round would be offense-heavy, but the fact that it took down a 50+ year old record out of the water is worth noting!
Prior to Latu getting selected, we saw six quarterbacks, four offensive tackles, three wide receivers, and a tight end.
