Blackhawks Offseason Road Map: Key Dates, Awards, Deadlines, More

The Blackhawks won’t play another meaningful game until October, but that doesn’t mean the world stops turning folks. There’s plenty going on in Blackhawks-land between now and the start of August that will have my attention.

Blackhawks fans only have to wait a couple short weeks for the first big date on our offseason calendars: the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery. On Friday, the NHL announced the lottery will take place on May 7 and will be broadcast on ESPN.

That will go a long way in determining some other elements of this summer’s plans for the front office. The No. 1 pick might accelerate the plan even more than the pressure to win games this coming season. A fall to 3 or 4 means the Hawks — and their fans — will have to wait a year or two to see this summer’s addition to the pipeline on NHL ice.

Here’s a full checklist of the key dates to add to your calendars for the Blackhawks this summer.

  • May 7 — 2024 NHL Draft Lottery
