It is barely May, and the Chicago Cubs have already seen Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Milton Bradley, Geovany Soto, and now Carlos Zambrano miss significant time. It’s a g-d miracle this team is above .500.
Carlos Zambrano was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. Infielder Bobby Scales was called up from Triple-A Iowa and added to the 25-man roster. Zambrano was expected to miss at least two weeks. Right-hander Randy Wells was expected to be called up for next Friday’s game in Milwaukee to take Zambrano’s spot in the rotation. Muskat Ramblings.
Randy Wells has found resurgent success in the last couple of years, but Carlos Zambrano he is not.
A Grade 2 left hamstring strain isn’t good, and we’ll try to add a little more color to that soon.
