Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Diamondbacks (7:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

In a rematch of the August 1st contest at Wrigley Field, lefties Jon Lester and Patrick Corbin will face each other once again, but this time at Chase Field.

If you recall, both pitchers had really short outings that day (there was just a combined seven innings pitched between them), but Lester definitely had the better overall game (his 12 combined strikeouts and walks in just four innings pushed the pitch count up quickly).

And Corbin allowed a (tied for his) season high 10 hits, 8 runs (7 earned), and three homers (including one to Jon Lester – his first!) before leaving after the third. The Cubs ultimately scored 16 runs that day, so you’d love to see them get the early jump on Corbin again and secure the series victory tonight. That way they can have a nice low-pressure Sunday contest with Jake on the mound tomorrow.

Oh, it’s also my nephew’s first birthday today, and I totally bought him a Cubs hat. Start them early and often, my friends.
