According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Kevin Durant is expected to make his return for the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
Shockingly traded to the Suns at this year’s deadline, the NBA superstar has appeared in just three games for the organization thus far. He initially missed his first six games with the Suns as he continued to recover from a knee injury he sustained earlier this season. Then, after averaging 26.7 points in 32.7 minutes per game over his first three contests, Durant slipped on a wet spot during pre-game warm-ups on March 8.
Durant went on to miss the next 10 games with an ankle injury, but it appears he’s finally ready to make his home debut with his new team. And it couldn’t come at a better time for the Suns.
Phoenix has gone just 4-6 over their last 10 games and is trying to hold onto the West’s No. 4 seed. They are currently just a half-game ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers and 1.5 games ahead of the Timberwolves, who they will welcome into the Footprint Center on Wednesday.
