Well, that’s certainly a nice way to recover from a two-game shutout streak and a sad off-day.
The Cubs’ offense livened up considerably tonight, slapping Michael Wacha around so soundly and so quickly that the game was a blowout before Mike Matheny really even had a chance to go to the bullpen. Ian Happ, Kris Bryant, and Kyle Schwarber went deep, and the Cubs piled up the baserunners throughout the game.
Jon Lester gave up a couple solo homers, but that was it, as he continues an impressive 2018 campaign.
I’m happy at the moment about this game, but I am also going to sleep. More tomorrow.
