Where was that last night?
I know the Hornets may have been the more depleted team, but there is no question this version of the Bulls could have made last night’s outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers far more competitive. Honestly, it’s impossible to think it doesn’t just all go back to simply taking the court with a will to win. I feel like it’s a bit of a cop-out to keep pointing at this team’s inconsistent psyche as the main contributor to their woes, but it almost feels impossible not to when we see things like tonight.
I mean, after scoring just 12 points in a dismal first frame Wednesday night, the Bulls outscored the Hornets 34 to 23 to start things off tonight. After allowing 121 points to the Cavs, the Bulls held the Hornets to their second-lowest point total of the season. After letting Darius Garland and Collin Sexton explode for 55 points, the Bulls kept Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham at a combined 28 points. Why such different teams on different nights?
Don’t get me wrong, I know the opponents offer different challenges (the Cavs have a much stronger interior presence and Collin Sexton is likely the best guard between the two teams), but the composure the Bulls played with shouldn’t have to change every single game.
We’ll get more into what went right tomorrow. I’m in the midst of some online car research (time to get a new one), and I also need to catch some Z’s before tomorrow’s big SECOND DOSE. See ya then (er, I guess, write ya then).
