The big week for Javonte Green continues.
The Chicago Bulls announced on Friday that their versatile forward has been assigned to the Windy City Bulls. Whether he’ll be with the G-League squad only for practice or to clock some minutes in their game against the Delaware Blue Coasts remains unclear.
The assignment comes one day after the organization upgraded him to “doubtful” on the team’s injury report. It was his first time appearing as anything other than unavailable since his January surgery.
Green also started to move laterally in practice earlier this week, which was an initial issue as he started to ramp up his rehab process.
The Bulls have yet to give us any specific target date for a return, but this week surely makes it feel as if that could be around the corner. All things considered, that’s exciting news after there were early concerns about whether or not Green would even be able to rejoin the team this regular season.
Let’s also not forget that Green will hit unrestricted free agency this summer. Not only could it be key for him to have a few final games to calm any nerves about his recent surgery, but it’s important for the Bulls to have this last chance to evaluate his future with the organization.
After tonight’s matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Bulls will have 13 games left this regular season. Green hasn’t appeared in a game since Dec. 31 against Cleveland.
